No Laptop For Her

I want to buy my mother a new computer in the next year or so. Right now she’s using my old desktop and she’s very content with that but I’d like to eventually buy her a laptop that she can carry around with her. Well, on second thought maybe that’s not a good idea. My mother can be very forgetful at times. I can’t stress enough how much I love the woman but the woman has lost so many umbrellas and gloves in her lifetime. She has a habit of walking into a store and just placing something down “for a minute” and forgetting about it and leaving! No one ever returns her gloves or umbrellas so you know they’re not going to return an expensive laptop!

I’d really love her to have a laptop because she could use something a little smaller, but she’s definitely going to have to leave it at home. She’s not ready to have a laptop that she can carry around with her to work and other places!!

Feeling Violated

My friend and I were on the phone last night talking about a bunch of random things and for some reason the subject of home theft came up. I’m not sure what lead to that but I ended up telling him about two separate occasions when my home was burglarized. I remember feeling so violated when that happened. To this day I still think about it and feel a level of discomfort. I feel that when something like that happens to you it really changes you. It kind of takes your innocence away. For a long time after those incidents occurred I was so afraid to stay in my home alone. I was afraid that the burglar would return and do it again.

The thing about situations like that is you find out what’s really important in life. Suddenly you’re not as worried about your possessions as you are about your safety and protection. I was so happy that I moved from that house several months after those incidents happened. There was no way I would have been at peace living there without having security systems installed. I don’t think I’ll ever forget about those things but I’m no longer afraid which is good.

That’s A Really Good Idea!!!

I love technology. I love reading about all of the new advances being made in technology because people think up some really cool things. A lot of those things make life a lot easier for us. Sometimes I wish that I could get someone to listen to all of the crazy inventions that I come up with. I’m always thinking of things that will make my life easier and I know other people could benefit from them. It’s funny to me though because sometimes I’ll think of a cool idea and I’ll look all around to see if it exists and it never does, than like a month or two after I forget about my idea someone will introduce something similar yet better.

I want to scream when that happens! And you know if you tell someone that you thought of that idea they’ll think you’re lying. LOL. I guess it’s true that there’s nothing new under the sun. You just have to be smart enough to get your invention in the right hands before someone else does. Whomever thought up the idea of digital signage players was pretty smart. It’s another cool advance in technology. I should have thought of it!

I Love The Extra Space!!

The other day I decided to break down and clean my external hard drive and boy am I glad I did. There really should be a rule that you have to clean out old stuff every 6 months. There was so much stuff on that hard drive that I just don’t have interest in anymore and it was good to be able to delete it to free up some space. Before I decided to clean out the hard drive I only had about 10gb of space left on it. Now I probably have close to 20gb left because I must have deleted about 10gb of old stuff.

The next thing I have to do is clean out my computer. I think because my computer’s hard drive is so big I don’t stress too much over that. I’m not even using 20 percent of my hard drive space and I have a lot of stuff on my computer. I’m so happy that I upgraded. Before I got this new computer I needed that external hard drive for extra space and even a memory stick for pictures and stuff. I’m definitely happy to have as much space as I have now!
