Thanks for the guest post by Esteban Vinson

You know how every year of an anniversary is associated with a gift. Like, one year it is paper, one year gold, that kind of thing. Well, I guess 3 years is the year of the alarm system. Nothing is more romantic that that, lol! I say that because this year on our anniversary, rather than buy each other gifts, we decided instead to go on www.homesecuritysystems.com and order a home security system for our house. It may seem strange, but it is something we have always wanted to do for awhile now, and I guess we are just using our anniversary as an excuse to get it. I am actually really happy about this. I did go ahead and get him a small little something, and wrote him a sweet card. I wonder if he will end up getting me something also. I know we agreed not to, but it is hard not to. I go around shopping and I see things I just know he will love and I can’t help but get it.

I had a really great day today. My baby cousin — who just turned two — came over to spend a few hours with us to celebrate her birthday. It was so great to spend time with her. She’s the coolest little lady I’ve ever encountered. She usually comes over every Wednesday to hang out for the day and we always have a ball. I love her! She wanted to stay longer but her 9-year old sister was ready to go. I guess she was bored and had enough of her sister being the center of attention. I don’t blame her!

Now that they’re all gone and my mom is still entertaining my uncle, I’m left to my own devices. I’m not sure how I’m going to spend the rest of the night but hopefully it will be fun! Whatever I decide to do I’m sure it will be indoors. It’s gotten so cold over the last few hours. It literally went from needing one of those Joe Rocket Jackets to needing a parka! Seriously! I’m staying warm tonight!

I’ve recently developed a new-found obsession with the television show Survivor. I watched a few seasons years ago, but I haven’t watched any religiously since Survivor: All-stars. And even before that I only watched the first three seasons. At any rate, I decided to go back and watch a few of the old seasons. If you know me, then you know that I rarely watch anything until I know the results. I don’t watch a movie unless I read the spoilers first, and I don’t watch most TV shows unless I can read about what happened. That way if I don’t like the ending I don’t have to bother watching it.

Back to Survivor. I went on Wiki and read a bunch of the synopsis and decided which seasons I’d most like to see and I’ve been watching them back. It’s been pretty entertaining. Especially knowing who will win all the rewards and immunities beforehand. I know that probably sounds nuts but that’s just my thing. If boredom ever strikes, I may go back and watch all the seasons again just for kicks. Or at least the ones I like or have never seen. There’s nothing better on anyway.

I have been watching the Food Network all week on DIRECT TV to try and figure out what I am going to cook for Valentine’s Day dinner. There are just so many ideas, but I want to make our dinner really special. I want to try something that is way above my skill level that will really impress my husband. So after watching probably twelve hours of cooking shows and surfing the Food Network website, I came up with a really great menu. I think that my husband will really love it! The appetizer is going to be beet soup. I used to think that I didn’t like beets, but I actually really like them. The soup that I am going to make is going to be pink because of the beets—perfect for V Day! I am going to make braised beef short ribs as the main course. They take about three hours to cook, but luckily, he won’t get off of work until eight o’clock anyway. With the short ribs I am going to have cheddar grits and sautéed fresh green beans with almond butter. For dessert I am going to make a molten chocolate cake ( on Martha Stewart not FN). I just have to figure out how I am going to dress the table!
