A Little Snow
January 23rd, 2012 Posted 4:24 am
The weather man predicted snow the other day and surprisingly it did snow. It really wasn’t that much snow at all, but it’s enough to make things annoying. Especially for me. I don’t have to go out in the snow or anything, I just hate it. I have some weird thing with snow. It makes me feel really uncomfortable. I guess because it really isn’t a liquid or a solid, so it’s hard to know how to feel about it. It also makes everything bright and weird.
Everyone always gets excited when it snows, but the excitement quickly turns to disgust because there isn’t enough snow to play in or enjoy, it’s really just enough to make things wet, messy and slippery. It’s pretty much an inconvenience if you ask me. I’m sure the snow will probably be gone by the middle to end of the week. It’s already starting to melt. Hopefully it won’t snow again this winter. I loved having such a mild winter this year. I hope the summer is mild as well. Everyone knows I hate the heat!

Tomboy At Heart
December 19th, 2011 Posted 11:46 pm
I don’t believe in past lives, but if there was such a thing, I’m sure I had to be a guy in a past life. I just had to. I’m a real girly-girl in all ways that matter, but when it comes to sitting and the way I dress, I definitely have tomboy tendencies. I have to be mindful when I’m sitting in front of people when I have a dress on because for some reason I always sit like a boy. I have that honestly though because my mom sits like a linebacker too. Haha.
And when it comes to clothing, I would rather wear sweats and sneakers than dresses and heels. I would probably even take one of those welding jackets over a fur coat. I just like to keep things simple. I don’t like excess. I’m sure you don’t hear too many women say that!

Bad Air
December 12th, 2011 Posted 10:20 pm
Sometimes I feel as if New Jersey is slowly killing me. Maybe it’s not the whole state, but it’s definitely the city I live in. There’s so much noise and pollution to deal with every day. Some days you can smell fumes and chemicals for hours on end. It’s really bad. I know I’m not the most environmentally conscious person in the world, but I do try to respect nature and my surroundings. Some people around here have no respect for nature or their neighbors. They don’t realize that these things will come back to us later.
I definitely think people take clean (sometimes!) air and water for granted. Lately they’ve been sending out notices telling people in my city not to drink the water at certain times or to boil it first. That’s horrible. And there are a lot of people who believe certain diseases can be prevented or caused by environment. I remember my aunt having really bad asthma and breathing problems until she moved out of this city. That’s what I need to do!!

Painting Wood
December 6th, 2011 Posted 8:33 pm
Last month I did my first painting on a piece of wood. I’m not sure how I liked that. I like the idea of painting on wood, but since I didn’t have a clear gesso to prime the wood with beforehand, the wood just sucked the paint up so fast. It felt as if I did about 10 layers and it still could have used more. I guess that’s what I get for using that weird all-purpose primer stuff.
Next time I decide to paint on wood I’m going to try to use clear gesso or something. I want to keep the wood grain without needing so many coats. If I ever get my hands on some large pieces of wood, a power tool and some power tool batteries, I’ll be no more good. I’d be creating wood paintings all the time!
