Bad Air

Sometimes I feel as if New Jersey is slowly killing me. Maybe it’s not the whole state, but it’s definitely the city I live in. There’s so much noise and pollution to deal with every day. Some days you can smell fumes and chemicals for hours on end. It’s really bad. I know I’m not the most environmentally conscious person in the world, but I do try to respect nature and my surroundings. Some people around here have no respect for nature or their neighbors. They don’t realize that these things will come back to us later.

I definitely think people take clean (sometimes!) air and water for granted. Lately they’ve been sending out notices telling people in my city not to drink the water at certain times or to boil it first. That’s horrible. And there are a lot of people who believe certain diseases can be prevented or caused by environment. I know Mesothelioma is caused by asbestos, but I wonder if the environment can have any affect on people with Mesothelioma cancer. I remember my aunt having really bad asthma and breathing problems until she moved out of this city.

Happy August!

It’s a new month and my body has decided to start it off with a cold. Yaay! I have the worst sore throat ever. I guess it has something to do with the weird weather that we’ve been having. One day it’s about 80 degrees, chilly and raining, and the next day it’s about 95 degrees, hot and humid. Gotta love hate the summer! I’m so looking forward to the fall! I was planning to get some drawing in since I don’t have work until later, but my baby cousin wanted to come hang out with me. Actually, it’s more like my Gram was getting annoyed with her and I had to save her.

How do you get annoyed with a 4 month old! She’s so sweet and precious. My Gram hates when she cries or fights sleep. Duh, that’s what babies do! I don’t know how she managed to have 8 kids with no patience. Smh. I’m about to wrap this little update up because the baby wants some attention. I don’t mind catering to her. That’s probably why she loves me the most. Haha. Hopefully I can update again soon. I pray this sore throat goes away soon too.

My Music Monster!

I’ve created a music monster. There was a time when my mom could either take or leave music, but now she’s addicted to it just like me. I listen to all types of music, but she only listens to Christian and worship music. She’s even got me hooked on a lot of artists, especially Jeremy Camp. She’s gotten so serious about her music that she’s been buying a bunch of CDs without my knowledge and then offering to “let me hear them”. The funny thing is that I like her music more than I like my own!

The only downside to her newly discovered addiction is that she needs a place for all of this music. She’s already filled one MP3 player and is in need of a new one. She needs to just buy a large capacity iPod. I love ipods and think they offer a lot of space and features. Hopefully she can find one that holds all of the CDs she’s been purchasing behind my back!

Special Flowers…

My mom and I have a really amazing relationship. One of the many sweet things that she does for me is giving me flowers. She loves to randomly buy me flowers and bring them home as a surprise. I love receiving them as well. This is something that we’ve been doing for many years. When I was younger I would always order her $1 carnations for special occasions. They were kind of cheap, but hey, I wasn’t even a teen then. She loved them anyway. Now she’s the one who’s constantly ordering the flowers.

I’m usually not a huge flower lover, but I’d be lying if I said receiving flowers as a surprise doesn’t give me a great feeling inside. It makes you feel special and thought about. If there is someone special in your life I’m sure ordering summer flowers for them would be a great way to let them know how you feel about them. It’s a guaranteed way to put a smile on someone’s face!
